Fortunately, there are plenty of Halloween events in Liverpool for kids in 2026 that capture all the excitement of spooky season without the sleepless nights afterwards.
Across Liverpool, Sefton, Aintree, Formby, Ormskirk and the wider North West, October brings pumpkin festivals, family discos, woodland adventures, farm days, miniature ghost trains and plenty of opportunities to pull out the fancy dress.
We’ve deliberately kept the genuinely frightening attractions out of this guide. Everything below has a family-friendly element, although individual age recommendations should always be checked before booking.
Here are some of the best family Halloween events taking place in and around Liverpool in 2026.
Spooky Welly Walk, Sefton Park
When: 24 October 2026
Best for: Ages 3 to 8
Tickets: £8 per person, £30 family of four, under-twos free
One of Liverpool’s best-loved family Halloween traditions returns to Sefton Park this October.
The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation’s Spooky Welly Walk takes children on a Halloween-themed adventure through the park, with activities and entertainment waiting along the route.
Expect creepy crafts, fairground fun, dinosaurs, sideshows and plenty of Halloween surprises, with fancy dress very much encouraged.
Crucially for younger children, this is designed to provide spooky fun without genuinely frightening scares.
The event runs from 10:45am until 4:30pm and tickets need to be booked in advance. Money raised from the event supports the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.
Best for: A traditional Liverpool Halloween day out with younger children.
Bibbidi Bobbidi BOO! at Mini Villagers
When: 31 October 2026
Time: 11:45am to 1:45pm

Best for: Toddlers and younger children
For little ones who prefer princesses to ghosts, Mini Villagers is bringing a rather more enchanting kind of Halloween magic to Liverpool.
Bibbidi Bobbidi BOO! welcomes Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother to the role-play village on Halloween for a morning of magic, dancing, crafts, sweet treats and plenty of time to play.
Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother will make a special character appearance between 12pm and 12:30pm, with the complete experience running from 11:45am until 1:45pm.
Perhaps most importantly for very young visitors, there are no scares.
Mini Villagers itself is an imaginative indoor role-play village filled with miniature versions of familiar places, giving children plenty to explore during their visit.
Places for this Halloween event are intentionally limited to just 23 little guests, so booking early is advisable.
Best for: Pumpkins, princesses and a gentle first Halloween experience.
Mrs Rachel Tribute Halloween Party at Crosby Babies

Location: Waterloo, near Crosby
Another particularly gentle Halloween option for little ones can be found at Crosby Babies.
Its Mrs Rachel Tribute Halloween Party combines familiar songs with Halloween fun, including singing, dancing, bubbles and sensory play.
Crosby Babies is designed around babies and toddlers rather than older children, so the atmosphere is considerably calmer than a large Halloween attraction.
Fancy dress is a lovely addition, but there are no horror-style scares to worry about.
Best for: Babies, toddlers and preschool children.
Farmer Ted’s Pumpkin Festival, Ormskirk
When: 2 October to 1 November 2026

Farmer Ted’s is going big for autumn 2026.
The Pumpkin Festival combines pumpkin picking with an extensive programme of family entertainment, making this considerably more than a quick trip into a field with a wheelbarrow.
Visitors can explore a Pumpkin Village filled with autumn displays before setting off on a Jurassic Halloween Tedventure featuring 12 animatronic dinosaurs.
There is also a Scary Maize Maze Treasure Hunt, Sorcery School, ghost stories and fancy-dress activities.
Despite some of the spooky names, Farmer Ted’s Halloween programme is designed as a family experience rather than a full scare attraction. The maze features gentle frights rather than anything designed to terrify younger visitors.
The usual farm attractions, animals and play areas are included too, so allow enough time to make a full day of it.
Best for: A full Halloween family day out with pumpkins, animals and activities.
Ottersghoul at Otterspool Adventure
When: 24 to 31 October 2026
Location: Otterspool, Liverpool
Otterspool Adventure becomes Ottersghoul for October half-term.
Jack Skellington’s Halloween Town takes over the attraction, joined by Maleficent, Winnie Sanderson, Sally, Oogie Boogie and other familiar spooky characters.
The main event includes Jack’s Halloween Spectacular, an all-singing and dancing live show performed several times each day, alongside a Pumpkin Parade.
Children can also enjoy many of Otterspool’s usual attractions, including go-karts, indoor soft play, adventure golf, bouncing pillows and outdoor play.
Optional seasonal extras include marshmallow toasting, Trick or Treat Street and additional Halloween experiences.
It is particularly useful for Liverpool families who want a substantial half-term day out without driving far from the city.

Halloween Family Day at Aintree Racecourse

Halloween comes to Aintree Racecourse with a family day combining jump racing with children’s entertainment.

Knowsley Safari has confirmed that its family Halloween event will return from 24 October through to 1 November, with seasonal activities taking place alongside the usual wildlife experience.
Full details of the 2026 programme are still being released, so this is one to keep an eye on as October approaches.
Even without the seasonal extras, being able to combine Halloween activities with lions, rhinos, baboons and other animals makes this an appealing alternative to another pumpkin patch.

Halloween Family Disco at Formby Hall

Formby Hall is swapping spa serenity for a considerably livelier afternoon on Halloween.
Its Family Halloween Disco includes spooky music, dancing, fancy dress, a foam party, Halloween character appearances and prizes for some of the best costumes.
Food including burgers and hot dogs will also be available to purchase.
The daytime timing makes this particularly useful for younger families who want to celebrate Halloween itself without keeping little ones out late into the evening.

Halloween Parties at Sefton Park Palm House

The beautiful Palm House is hosting separate Halloween celebrations designed around different age groups during October half-term.
For the smallest visitors, the under-fives party keeps things deliberately gentle with mini-beast-themed nursery rhymes, action songs, dancing, sensory props and bubbles.
School-aged children get a livelier experience with Halloween games, entertainment, a monster dance party and trick-or-treat challenges.
Having separate experiences for different ages is a particularly nice touch, avoiding the problem of taking a two-year-old to something designed primarily for eight-year-olds.
Best for: Age-appropriate Halloween fun in one of Liverpool’s loveliest settings.
SMEC Ghost Train, Southport

Time: 4pm to 8pm
All aboard for a ghost train that is deliberately more fun than frightening.
Southport Model Engineering Club transforms its miniature railway for two Halloween evenings, with decorated trains travelling through haunted tunnels and ghostly stations.
Friendly spirits, jack-o’-lanterns, glittering bats and spooky decorations bring Halloween to the miniature railway without turning it into a frightening scare attraction.
Games and refreshments will also be available.
The organisers describe the experience as a not-scary Halloween train ride, making this a lovely choice for children who enjoy the atmosphere of Halloween but aren’t ready for anything intense.
Best for: Train-loving children and a wonderfully nostalgic Halloween evening.
Halloween at BeWILDerwood Cheshire
For something that feels more magical than scary, BeWILDerwood Cheshire is one of our favourite choices.
The woodland adventure takes on an autumnal Halloween atmosphere, with children still able to climb enormous wooden structures, cross wobbly bridges, whizz down slides and explore the forest.
Halloween brings additional activities including crafts, face stencils and spooky storytelling.
Children can also follow a Twig or Treat trail through the woods, meeting BeWILDerwood characters and discovering whether they have left treats or twigs.
As daylight fades, the woodland transforms again with glowing lights, illuminated characters, scarecrows and pumpkins.
There’s even a Spooky Disco for little ones.
This is Halloween through the pages of a children’s storybook rather than a horror film.
Best for: Magical woodland adventures and children who love imaginative play.
Halloween at Chester Zoo
When: 17 October to 1 November 2026
Chester Zoo is taking a particularly gentle approach to Halloween this year.
Families can follow the Zoo vs You Top Trumps Trail around Islands, comparing animal statistics and completing challenges as they explore.
Giant pumpkin sculptures will appear around the zoo, alongside optional Halloween face painting, seasonal food and autumn treats.
The Halloween activities are included with normal zoo admission and are free for members.

If you’re happy to venture a little further from Liverpool, several of the North West and Midlands’ larger attractions have Halloween programmes specifically designed with children in mind.
Fright Fiesta at Gulliver’s World, Warrington
When: 10 October to 1 November 2026
Gulliver’s World is an especially good fit for younger families because the theme park itself is designed primarily for children aged two to 13.
Its Fright Fiesta brings a colourful festival-style Halloween atmosphere to the park with costumes, music, friendly frights and eerie encounters rather than focusing entirely on scares.
Children can enjoy the park’s rides alongside the seasonal entertainment, making this another event that can comfortably fill an entire day.
For Liverpool families, Warrington is close enough to make this a straightforward day trip.
Best for: Younger theme park fans and friendly Halloween fun.
Thrill-O-Ween at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Blackpool Pleasure Beach is embracing Halloween throughout October with a daytime programme designed for families.
Children can encounter roaming Halloween characters, see Bradley and Bella Beaver dressed for spooky season and enjoy family entertainment with familiar characters.
The Halloween Hub adds games, DJs and seasonal entertainment, while Halloween itself traditionally brings fancy dress and additional activities.
There is an important distinction for parents here.
Thrill-O-Ween during the day is the family-friendly offering. Blackpool also runs separate after-dark Halloween experiences aimed at thrillseekers, which aren’t what we’re recommending in this children’s guide.
Best for: Rides, Halloween characters and a full Blackpool day out.
Scarefest at Alton Towers
Selected dates from 26 September to 1 November 2026
Despite the name, Alton Towers’ Scarefest isn’t exclusively about frightening people.
The resort runs a family-friendly daytime programme alongside its more intense scare attractions, meaning parents can choose how spooky they want the experience to become.
Family entertainment includes Halloween shows, character appearances, photo opportunities and themed walkthrough experiences.
For 2026, Amigos in the Afterlife takes families into a colourful Día de los Muertos-inspired world populated by friendly spirits.
For younger children, stick to the daytime family programme and avoid the dedicated scare mazes and attractions designed for older visitors.
It is a considerably longer journey from Liverpool than Gulliver’s World or Blackpool, so this is better suited to families who want to make a full day or overnight break of Halloween.
Best for: Families with older children who love theme parks.
For some families, Halloween isn’t Halloween without choosing a pumpkin.
Liverpool is particularly well positioned for this, with pumpkin patches around Hightown, Lydiate, Ormskirk, Burscough, Scarisbrick, Wirral and Warrington.
Farmer Ted’s is already included above for its full Pumpkin Festival, but there are plenty of quieter alternatives if you simply want to pull on the wellies and head into a field.
The Pumpkin Patch Hightown, Church View Farm in Lydiate, Pumpkin Alley near Ormskirk, Windmill Animal Farm, Kenyon Hall Farm and Bates Farm are among the places worth checking for the 2026 season.

For Halloween itself, Mini Villagers, Formby Hall and Southport’s Ghost Train all have events taking place around 31 October.
For animal lovers, choose Knowsley Safari or Chester Zoo.
For theme park fans, Gulliver’s World is the most obviously child-focused, while Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Alton Towers both have family Halloween programmes alongside their more intense experiences.
And for something close to home, Sefton Park, Aintree and Otterspool provide plenty of Halloween fun without requiring a long drive.
