A Cinema Experience like no other: we visit Everyman Liverpool

The perfect, chilled out Sunday always involves a couple of drinks, plenty of snacks and, of course, a trip to the cinema. With so many fantastic films out at the moment, we jumped at the chance to try the brand new Everyman Cinema to watch the oscar-nominated Green Book, in style.

The Everyman Cinema sits at the back of the Metquarter and once you enter Liverpool’s favourite shopping centre, you can’t miss the old-school cinema lights shining ‘everyman’ in red as you head to watch your film. Heading upstairs to the bar and lobby, the first thing you notice about the cinema itself is the simply beautiful interior, packed full of quirky but oh-so-stylish decor, with warm golds, maroons and teal running through out. The walls pay homage to films and movies of times gone by and the impressive marble bar is available to take your booking and, of course, your food and drink orders.

Having arrived early for our showing, we were booked into our screen and asked if we wanted anything off their exciting menu which not only consists of cinema style snacks and sweets but also a variety of nacho’s, pizzas and burgers all of which are delivered to you in the screen, before the beginning of the movie. As well as food, there’s a range of soft drinks and alcoholic options for you to choose from, so you really can enjoy your cinema experience in style. We chose two soft drinks and were offered two Negroni’s on the house – a traditional Italian style cocktail that was being served to every viewer of Green Book. What’s not to love?!

After checking into our screen and placing our food and drink orders, we had a little time to relax in the lobby before we were called up to our screen. The lobby is stylishly kitted out with bar style seating as well as stylish armchairs and sofas, the perfect place to kick back pre or post film. After a quick drink we were ready to head up to screen 4 – the smallest screen in the cinema, with only 20 seats, which is used not only to show films to small groups of the public but also for private functions, the perfect place for a party with a difference.

Walking into the screen, we couldn’t believe how well it was set out, with huge armchairs and cushions, all with side tables for drinks, snacks and hot food. We were shown to our seats as the trailers were playing and soon after brought our drinks and nachos, which we happily nibbled before the film started playing. After a short showing of trailers, we were introduced to our usher for the evening who told us a little bit about Green Book’s history, including the details of the Oscar it been nominated for and consequently won. It was now time to sit back and enjoy the film.

Liverpool’s Everyman cinema have succeeded in taking all (and more) of the comfort of your own home and combined it with the warmest of hospitality, stylish aesthetic, a top quality viewing experience and delicious food and drinks straight to your chair. All this is done whilst celebrating the wonder that is film and performance with a whole range of different cinema showings happening daily at the venue. This amazing new addition to Liverpool’s entertainment scene is really not something to be missed and is an experience you’ll want to do over and over again. 10/10 from us for the Everyman Cinema – a treat you need to experience.
