Beech Hill Hotel in the Lake District

Beech Hill Hotel Unlock Liverpool

Weekends come and go in the blink of an eye, so it’s  important to balance your busy working life with an indulgent weekend away every so often. The Lake District is approximately an hour and a half drive from Liverpool, so it makes an incredible escape from the city, whether it’s for a quick overnight stay or a three day weekend break. We were kindly invited to stay over in one of the stunning hotels on the edge of Lake Windermere, Beech Hill Hotel and Spa with some of the most breathtaking panoramic views of the lake.

After driving through the winding tree lined country lanes leading up to Lake Windermere, we finally approached Beech Hill Hotel and Spa, after a short hour and a half drive. Positioned perfectly on the very edge of Lake Windermere, we were warmly welcomed by the team and shown to our room with one hell of a view.

After a quick power nap in our quintessentially English room, which was impeccably clean, we headed out for a late lunch in Windermere, only a 5 minute drive from the hotel.

In among the cobbled streets and pretty coffee shops we stumbled across a modern gem. BAHA on Ash Street is a vibrant and welcoming lounge bar and restaurant offering a contrast to the sleepy town. The atmosphere inside on Saturday night is electric and according to their website, there are plenty of upcoming events and live music nights to keep you entertained in Windermere in the evening. Ordering some food, we were surprised at the price as the quality is excellent and with such a modern and elegant interior, we expected the bill to be a lot more than we paid. If you’re staying in Windermere we would highly recommend BAHA for late evening cocktails and food.

*Note- we were dressed quite casually, but we would advise to go more dressed up for drinks

The beauty of the Beech Hill Hotel and Spa is their outdoor heated Jacuzzi overlooking Lake Windermere. Open until 9pm at night, you can enjoy a meal at their restaurant and then head for the Scented Garden to relax whilst star gazing. A truly incredible experience, the spa itself consists of a large indoor pool, outside heated Jacuzzi, Himalayan sauna with a modern glass wall which gives the illusion of more space and an aromatic steam room. The changing rooms were very clean with a huge supply of fresh towels available to guests.

Taking in the lavender scented breeze coming in from the lake, we did not want to get out. If only we knew of the Beech Hill Hotel and Spa sooner, we would have no doubt have visited on several occasions.

After a long and peaceful sleep at Beech Hill Hotel and Spa, we enjoyed a hearty breakfast and checked out at 11am. We drove into Windermere once again, but this time with the goal of taking a boat out onto the lake.

A self drive powered boat costs £26 for an hour on Lake Windermere and is well worth the money. Taking in the views of the mountains, the forests and the mansions that line the lake, we were at peace and away from our mobile, social media world. Getting back to nature is what it’s all about in the Lake District and the sense of relaxation after just a couple of days away can make such a huge difference.

Grabbing a cheeky chocolate dipped ice cream we headed back to the car to make our journey back home to Liverpool.

Beech Hill Hotel and Spa on Lake Windermere is a fantastic hotel for a couple who want the luxury of a spa hotel, with the step back in time of a country estate. We would highly recommend a weekend break and as our top tip, we would urge you to try the outside heated Jacuzzi after 7pm when the stars come out.
