Sgt Pepper Turns 50 in Liverpool

When you think about Liverpool, there is no doubt in my mind that you won’t immediately think of the inspirational local legends that formed The Beatles. It’s not just because they were from Liverpool and made in big in the music industry that they are remembered and much loved throughout Liverpool, but more that they successfully managed to put our great city on the international stage for all the right reasons and even after 50 years, we are still hugely grateful.

The Beatles were a group of local Liverpool lads, who stayed true to themselves even when they were touring across America, but enough about that, we want to home in on one particular memory and celebrate its 50th anniversary. Until the 16th of June, you’re going to see a range of artistic reminders across the city of The Beatle’s 8th studio album- Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band which was released in May 1967, which makes it 50 YEARS OLD.

On Friday the 9th of June, Unlock Liverpool spotted psychedelic works of art popping up around Liverpool One.

We moved out of the way of this stunning car as it rolled up Lord Street.

Now we don’t mean to alarm anyone but…….could this be the infamous BANKSKY spray painting the Beatle silhouettes at around 10am today? If you have more information please email us- info@unlockliverpool.co.uk
