We first spotted this shop on Instagram while searching for an office desk for our new home and we were shocked at the quality and affordability of these fantastic antique items. We’re very much minimalists when it comes to interior design and we prefer to find one incredible piece of furniture that will make a huge design impact on a room, rather than pick furniture sets or fill a room full of storage units and bookshelves. Plus, the shop is right on our doorstep so it made sense to pop down for a bit of a nose. Now an eclectic mix of old and new pieces, Antwakki’s Bazzar features one off pieces and charming upcycled items.

Antwakki's Bazzar Smithdown RoadRather than picking up flat pack furniture from a high-street retailer or a certain Swedish interior design company, you know which one we’re talking about- we urge you to support this fascinating independent shop in Liverpool and pop by to see what treasures you can find. Furniture can last a lifetime and Antwakki’s Bazzar proves this over and over again. Buying a piece of solid wood furniture over a cheaper woodchip version is a far better investment and will mean it will hold onto its value. If you’re thinking of updating your living room or bedroom this spring, keep an eye out for white furniture, wall hangings and artwork with tassels and handmade rugs. Try to incorporate as many plants into your room design too, as this is said to a huge interior design trend for Spring 2018.Antwakki's Bazzar in Liverpool

Karen tells Unlock Liverpool “Investing in one off pieces give a home character and charm, which is why so many people are mixing modern design with antiques.”

We must warn you though- like any antique shop in Liverpool, when it’s gone…it really is gone, so if you see something you like, you better snap it up before someone else does! If you find a piece that you’d like to have painted or changed in any way, Karen can also recommend a local upcycler who can help you to get the look you’re after, so make sure to enquire either online or in store. The shop is open from Monday to Saturday, 9:30am to 5pm. For more information, check out their website or browse their incredible Instagram account.
