Last Friday night, marked the VIP official launch of Liverpool’s Ice Festival, at it’s new and more dramatic backdrop, the Pier Head.
With mulled wine on arrival, we quickly headed over to their festive winter lodge, adorned with Christmas trees and elaborate fireplaces.
Curling my fingers around the warm cup, we were treated to a variety of nibbles from a ginger cake with rich frosting to a spicy sausage dish, that will all be available from the wooden stalls that are dotted around the fairground rides outside.
After warming up inside, we were taken to the massive real ice rink, which is protected from the wind in an insulated tent. The professionals put us all to shame with an incredible, gravity-defying fire and ice inspired performance.
If this wasn’t enough, we were invited into Liverpool’s only sub-zero ice bar, and helped ourselves to a couple of shots, all to keep warm of course! With delicate ice sculptures of penguins to furniture all made from solid ice, we dare you to spend more than 5 minutes inside.
Come and join in the fun by visiting their website here. The festival will be open from Saturday the 12th of November up until the 3rd of January 2017, so just enough time to become experts on the ice.
