August is just around the corner and with so much to look forward to, we can barely contain our excitement. Not only are we going to be dressing up and heading to One Night in Rio, at Liverpool’s most glamorous venue, Playground at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool One, on Saturday the 5th of August for a night of carnival dancing, drinks and DJ Josh Miller, but we’re also going to be getting ready for Comic Con and Creamfields as well as the Hope and Glory Festival, Folk Festival and Southport’s Flower Show.  So get your sunnies on, throw on some SPF30 and let’s get started.

One Night in Rio Liverpool

Get out the glitter and body paint for One Night in Rio at Liverpool’s most glamorous venue, Playground at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool One. DJ Josh Miller and Viva Brasil Samba Show will be creating an incredible night of tropical house, drinks and dancing as party ’till 3AM. This is definitely not to be missed!! There is also a rumour that there’s going to be a secret competition for best dressed, so make sure you spend a little longer than usual in front of the mirror and you never know what could happen!

Hope and Glory Festival

What: Hope and Glory Festival

Where: St. George’s Quarter in Liverpool

Cost: £55 +

Before you head to One Night in Rio at Playground at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool, make sure you check out the Hope and Glory Festival.  It may be a little steep in price, but if you’re into alternative, Indie, Pop or Rock you’ll want to check this out.

Spend the day or the whole weekend watching your favourite artists perform live on the main stage or if you’re entertaining the kids in Liverpool, make sure you head over to the Darwins Little Darlings event at the Kids Games and Theatre Area. If you’re kid free for the day, treat yourself to a couple of cheeky cocktails at the Prince Albert’s Little Secret cocktail bar.

Southport Flower Show 2017

This year, Southport will blossom in size, as hundreds of people head to their annual flower show. The Curious Garden is a beautiful way to spend a day in the sun with your family as you drift through rose gardens, pristine lawns of green and designs made to spark every corner of your imagination. Ice cream is almost an essential for the Flower Show so get a double flake and pop it in your diary.

Folk Festival Liverpool

Folk Festival Albert Dock

What: Folk Festival On the Dock

Where: Albert Dock Liverpool

Cost: Free Entry

This brilliant family day out is completely free, so what more can you possibly ask for. On Monday the 26th of August, the Albert Dock will be transformed into a folk and sea shanty carnival, with almost 450 performers entertaining the crowds to celebrate Liverpool’s rich musical heritage. Presented by the BBC’s Janice Long, pack some pocket money for fish and chips and make your way down to the docks for the August bank holiday weekend.

Comic Con Liverpool

Where: Civic Hall in Ellesmere Port

On Saturday the 26th of August, Civic Hall in Ellesmere Port will become Gotham City, as Batman, The Joker and his psychotic princess Harley Quinn will take Civic Hall for themselves. Along with a variety of cosplay characters, you should expect countless encounters with villains, heroes and familiar comic book faces as Comic- Con comes to Liverpool. If you’d like to go to see who you can spot, make sure to take a camera, or if you’re a secret cosplay lover, you better start planning your outfit right now because these guys ain’t messing around.
