Unlock Liverpool & The British Style Collective
Liverpool’s most anticipated fashion festival, The British Style Collective took centre stage in Liverpool over the weekend and adorned us with the latest trends and collections from the high street.
First on our list was the Expert Stage in the Exhibition Centre, hosted by model and Heart Club Classics presenter Annaliese Dayes, who welcomed a number of industry experts to put on live demonstrations and Q&As giving their tips, advice and answers to some of our most puzzling beauty dilemmas. I mean how can you really achieve a shimmer highlight without looking too shiny? Well, I suppose you could just call it the unicorn trend… but that’s not the point. Nosing around we found River Island’s new collection including this beautiful yellow jacket which we absolutely fell in love with. River Island if you’re reading this, it just so happens to be my birthday soon- just saying.
After browsing through the stands at The Exhibition Centre opposite the Echo Arena, we grabbed a quick coffee and headed over to the Alcatel Fashion Arena. With an 8,000 strong audience, the Clothes Show in association with Alcatel kicked off the show with a star-studded line-up including Mollie King. Rock the Runway showcased an incredible collaboration of musical talent, dancers and models to provide one of the biggest and best performances to date. Internationally renowned violinist and modern rock sensation Analiza Ching, who has also appeared on Britain’s Got Talent, as well as drummer Alex Todd entertained the crowd with an energetic and spectacular performance.
The crowds, the majority being female, were certainly impressed by the line-up of male models who turned some girls wild with their flirtatious antics on stage as they presented their fashion forward pieces. One model, in particular, caught our eye with his incredible set of abs. We just want to know what he’s really doing in the gym to achieve that body because there is only so much protein you can handle before you feel as though you’re turning into an egg, but boy he has a body to die for.
With some of the looks pushing the boundaries a little bit further than we’d have the confidence to pull off on a weekday, there is no doubt in our minds that Liverpool ladies will be incorporating the majority of the key trends into their wardrobes. Let’s be honest, it’s Liverpool women after all, who really know how to put an outfit together and manage to look as though they’ve just thrown something on. We don’t know how you do it girls, but you’ve got it on point.
