Eden Liverpool – a secret garden you must visit

Sat above everyone’s favourite Saturday night hang out, Eden Liverpool has brought a little Instagrammable haven to Berry Street’s Red Door, and we chose a sunny Saturday to go and sample their brand new space.

When walking into eden, you’re immediately transported from the familiar sites of Berry Street into the sensory delights of a botanical garden, complete with both outdoor and and indoor seating areas. The seats are adorned with colourful cushion covers and the interior is a beautiful mixture of retro, rustic wood and bare brick and modern decor, with green plants covering every surface and impressive, live background welcoming guests. The outdoor area has been beautifully transformed, complete with blossom tree, wrought iron chairs, drift wood benches and plenty of blankets to go round (ah, the good old British summertime). In the corner sits benches around a fire pit, the perfect set up for a party booking.

We were greeted with a friendly face and shown to one of the benches in the garden – underneath the heater. As a palette cleanser we were brought a super refreshing shot of ‘cloud 9’ – a sweet and sour tasting drink with egg white, served in a shot glass. We were told that the cocktails on the menu were Eden’s creative take on the classics, with quirky flavours and ingredients including dragon fruit and lychee. With this in mind, we ordered the rose aperol spritz and the lychee sake. The refreshing spritz arrived complete with edible flower and the lychee sake with a brightly coloured wedge of dragon fruit to garnish. Both drinks were packed full of amazing flavour, without being too strong and sipping them on a rooftop in the setting sun was a true treat.

After two delicious cocktails, we couldn’t just leave it at that and decided on two more – the poison apple with rhubarb gin and the ‘spice bomb’ a ginger and vodka based tipple. Probably my favourite choice, the poison apple came complete with a colour changing elixir and continued to smoke and bubble as it was drank. Not only did it look impressive, it also tasted sublime, with a warm kick of rhubarb sitting against the icy temperature of the liquid. The spice bomb was packed full of ginger and certainly gave the kick it promised.

The magical hideaway of Eden is a fantastic addition to Liverpool’s night life and is just as perfect for date night cocktails as it is for a group of friends. With the summer months approaching, it’s time to get up high above Berry Street and enjoy delicious drinks al fresco. Visit Eden Liverpool today.
