Magic on the Mersey Liverpool Magician

We all could do with a bit of uplifting magic during these difficult times! Introducing Magic On The Mersey, an unforgettable Liverpool magic show.

What does someone who works on cruise ships do, when they can’t work on cruise ships?

They take their show to shore!

Steve Price has been a full-time magician for the past 15 years.  He was performing regularly onboard cruise ships – until six months ago.  Since then he hasn’t stepped onto a stage.  Now, all of that is about to change.

Steve, from Hoylake, has spent the past six months developing his brand new Liverpool magician show which he will be performing in Aloft Liverpool in October, November and December.  Although he’s used to performing for hundreds of people, the idea of an intimate audience is something that excites him. Close-up magic is far more thrilling for a live audience and will allow Steve to bring an uplifting vibe to the city during these difficult times.

He says “I’m a glass-half-full person, I don’t worry about what I can’t do.  Instead, I focus on what I can.  The show will be different from how it was before, the audience will be wearing face coverings and social distancing will be in place, but I still hope to create some incredible moments and impossible memories.  I’m hoping for gasps behind the masks!

“I can still interact with the audience.  I can ask them to think of a number or name a film star, but I won’t be getting anyone up on stage.  The audience can take part but in a “new normal” way.  It will be different, but different is okay.

Steve walked into the James Doyle Suite at Aloft Liverpool (housed in the iconic Grade II-listed Royal Insurance Building) and immediately thought it would be the perfect place to put on some shows.

He explains “I wanted to try and recreate the spectacle and the elegance of a cruise ship experience.  That’s why I tell people to ‘dress to impress and let the cruise come to you’.  It’s the perfect night out – and particularly in the run-up to Christmas.  It’s a chance to forget about the worries of everyday life and be transported to a world where anything is possible.  It’s what we all need.
