Last Sunday, two of life’s greatest things (pugs and Christmas) united to form Love Thy Neighbour’s bottomless Christmas Brunch, to raise awareness for the fabulous work of Muffin Pug Rescue. When we were asked to go eat and be merry in the accompaniment of some of the cutest pups around, there wasn’t really a doubt about it. Bring on the pugs!
As expected, we arrived in Love Thy Neighbour’s basement to total and utter pug-filled chaos; Christmas music on the speakers, excitable pugs (and owners) ready to be fed and a grotto-like decor complete with Santa and fairy lights. We could have been dreaming.
After the Pugs had enjoyed their own dinner, we were presented with our very own Christmas feast, including Christmas dinner with all of the trimmings. We opted for one meat order which included pigs in blankets, turkey and lashings of gravy as well as a vegetarian festive dinner with a delicious crispy nut roast – the plates were piled high, just as they should be at Christmas time and we were thoroughly loving life tucking into dinner, surrounded by pugs.
The pugs had all come dressed in their finery, from Mr and Mrs Claus to elves and gingerbread men, the Christmas spirit was completely real and to top it all off, Santa Clause himself sat in the corner.
Dinner was followed by a festive dessert of homemade New York cheesecake with a warm, mulled berry compote which was a super creamy vanilla filling that sat on top of a crunchy biscuit base alongside a generous dollop of whipped cream – heaven.
Love Thy Neighbour are well known for their Pug Brunches and if the Christmas extravaganza was anything to go by, their next one is definitely not to be missed. Whether you have a pug or frenchie yourself that you want to bring along or you’re simply just a pug lover and want a cuddle, there’s space for everyone with delicious food thrown in for good measure! Keep an eye on Love Thy Neighbour’s Facebook page for the next event!
