This month, Unlock Liverpool were invited to stay at Thornton Hall Liverpool Hotel & Spa for a day of relaxation, pampering and fine dining. Home to 62 intimate suites, this Liverpool spa offers elegantly designed rooms and an incredible range of spa facilities.

Yet, this is not what impressed us the most! In fact, when you go to a spa or a hotel, it’s the team behind the business which makes the real impact and Thornton Hall in Liverpool has first-class customer service. A dedicated and knowledgeable team, we were welcomed warmly on arrival and from check-in to check-out, the team could not do enough for us. A special shout out to Nikki Gonzalez and her husband.

The Liverpool hotel and spa is based in Wirral, and is an ideal location for a Liverpool wedding or special occasion. From private parties to Christenings, Thornton Hall can offer the very best in catering, with on-site fine dining restaurants such as The Lawns which offers guests exceptional food created by Head Chef, Richard Collingwood. With a smart casual dress code, this hotel would be perfect for a special event or elegant Liverpool wedding.

During our stay at Thornton Hall, we ate from the divine Tasting Menu and can vouch for the exceptional quality of the food. Yet, this is not the only restaurant you can dine at. The Brassereie offers a more casual dining experience with a Tapas & Grill theme.

We sampled squid ink crackers, wild garlic and chicken kiev, curried aubergine dip canapes. Set pea dashi, pea tare-tare, feta mousse, pea and mint oil and pea powder amuse bush. Our server Ammy was lovely and explained each dish in detail.

We enjoyed a premium fine-dining experience which was made even more special thanks to Sommelier John Jardine, who truly is an encyclopedia in wine. He is so passionate about wine that he detailed the history of each glass, telling us where it came from and how it is produced. He was amazing and a credit to the hotel and spa.

The Lounge and Terrace overlooks the gardens and provides smaller plates and afternoon tea which we were treated to during our stay but at the Spa Brasserie. It’s no surprise that Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa in Liverpool won the Afternoon Tea of the Year Award in 2018. Priced at £24.50 per person or £31.50 per person with a glass of Prosecco The Great Wirral Afternoon Tea experience is actually one of the best we’ve experienced in Liverpool so far.

Elder-flower jam and scones, it’s a taste sensation. With a range of cakes to choose from and a tea to suit your mood, if you’re visiting Liverpool and would like to experience afternoon tea for the first time, we urge you to book this one! You certainly won’t be disappointed.

Now onto Thornton Hall Spa. We are actually going to book this Liverpool spa again for our family members as again the team at Thornton Hall could not be more welcoming, genuinely kind and caring and made the whole experience an absolute delight.

We began with the Experience Shower, followed by the Snow Cave, yes that’s right, it’s an actual room of snow. We warmed up in the sauna and steam room before heading to the Mud Therapy Suite, which is a rejuvenating experience for one or up to 4 people. Next, the Lava Shell treatment, which made us feel like we were in heaven. Therapist Chloe was brilliant and managed to massage out most of the knots while helping to alleviate the tension.

We can not praise Thornton Hall Liverpool Hotel & Spa enough. From arrival to check-out we had a fantastic experience thanks to the luxury facilities, first class customer care and dedicated team.
