Inside Thornton Hall Hotel
This quintessentially English hotel comes with it’s own butler. On arrival, you’ll be shown to your room by Joe, the hotel’s butler who is both charming and knowledgable about the hotel and it’s history. If this doesn’t tick your boxes for a Downton Abbey inspired hotel, you’ll be pleased to see the stunning woodwork and oil paintings that frame the grand staircase.
A former flying club post world war II, Thornton Hall has 62 intimate suites, each individually designed giving a unique feel to the room. Make your way up the grand staircase, admiring the craftsmanship as you go and be blown away by the design of these elegant suites.
The character rooms create a beautiful contrast from the historic features of the staircase and halls, to the luxurious comfort of present day, with modern bright luxury bedroom and bathroom suites. Draw yourself a hot bath and spend some time relaxing in your room before heading to Thornton Hall’s spa.
Oh, we forgot to mention, there is even a resident ghost. ‘The Grey Lady’ has been seen a number of times of the years and apparently only reveals herself to those who are happy. The last time she was seen was by the young daughter of a couple who were planning on getting married at Thornton Hall. If you’re brave enough during the night, you might want to spend some time ghost hunting.
Thornton Hall Spa Day
After checking into the four star hotel, make sure to head to the spa. This health club and spa has a beautiful Roman bath inspired swimming pool, a steam room, sauna, inside and outside hydro spa pools, experience shower and even a snow cave to exhilarate your senses.
If you’d prefer to stay warm and cosy rather than play in the snow, try the outside wooden cabin sauna, with a remarkable view of the countryside. The spa also has a Rasul, a mud therapy suite which can be enjoyed alone or with a partner or friends. It makes for the perfect Liverpool spa day, even if it is 20 minutes drive away, it’s well worth it.
