Put your nerves to the test and kick off a new adventure at Zip World Fforest in North Wales. Only a couple of hours drive from Liverpool city centre, lose yourself in the breathtaking Conwy Valley, where you’ll find a labyrinth of zip wires, obstacles and challenges all in amongst the treetops.
Zip World Fforest invited the Unlock Liverpool team to scale some of the tallest trees and take on their Zip Wire Safari adventure.
Zip World Fforest, part of a family of adventure and thrill seeking activities across the UK, offers both adults and children from 3 years plus, a number of energetic and nerve racking challenges.
With free parking on site, we pulled up and took in the sheer beauty of the forest and surrounding areas, as well as the energy that was coming from the excited guests who were already swinging from tree to tree above our heads.
We made our way to the log cabin style reception and got our wrist bands ready for our first attraction which was Zip World’s Fforest’s newest addition, Fforest Coaster.
Do not and we repeat, do not be fooled by the number of young children queueing up for this ride, and you will soon find out just how thrilling and scary it is to take on full control of your own speed as you hurtle down a tabogan style track. We dare you to push those breaks forward and maximize your speed. So much fun!!
Next, we got geared up and ready for Zip Safari, a 60ft tree top journey that is guaranteed to test your nerves and your hand eye coordination.
The beauty of the specialist equipment used during this adventure is that the safety locking system that attaches you to the high wires, will never allow you to clip yourself completely off the ropes- great news for concerned parents who can now have complete peace of mind that this adventure is 100% family friendly. Although, please bear in mind that the minimum age is 9 years old and children under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a participating adult.
You are first given a full brief so that you understand how to clip on and off the ropes and move from one platform to another safely. The brief involves practical training so you will have the confidence once you get off the ground to manoeuvre through the trees easily.
I didn’t realise I had any fear of heights, whilst taking part in the training on the group, but once we got over 20ft in the air, the adrenalin began to pump and fear suddenly took over. Managing to compose myself in front of the younger participants, I managed to get through the obstacles and after two hours of tree top fun, zip wired down to the finish.
