A favourite restaurant of ours, here at Unlock Liverpool, Chaophraya invited us to an exclusive VIP menu launch this week, to showcase their succulent and indulgent authentic array of Thai food.
Rather than researching flavours, spice and presentation here in the UK, Chaophraya flew their highly skilled team of chefs back to Thailand to reawaken their sense of authentic Thai food and create something truly special. A bold step for any restaurant, but hands down we were extremely impressed with both the presentation of the new menu as well as the theatrical presentation of many of their new and delicious dishes.
Sticking with originality, Chaophraya’s new menu maps out where their inspiration all began. As your trace your fingers down the illustrated map of Thailand, you’ll find the origin of Chaophraya’s name, the Chaophraya river which breathed life into the families who lived alongside its banks- according to the menu. Today the river is still regarded as part of the essence of Thailand.
A tender 8oz Sirloin steak served with a side of tangy chilli dip, on a slab of Himalayan salt. Not only can you cook your own steak exactly how you like it, but the Himalayan salt adds a incredible salty aftertaste that I just couldn’t get enough of. With stir-fried shimeji mushrooms and Bok choy on the side, this dish is now way out there as a front runner for my favourite meat dish in Liverpool.
Now onto something sweet. When you think of Thai food, dessert doesn’t often spring to mind, but feast your eyes on this naughty rich white chocolate box, served with a light and creamy macaroon and dainty edible flowers. Yes, you’ve worked hard all week at the gym, but come on guys, it’s not every day that you’re served something as irresistible as this!
