Dinner at Alma De Cuba in Liverpool

If you love a seriously good juicy steak, Alma de Cuba in Liverpool is the place to go. Set in the former St Peter’s Catholic Church on the south side of Seel Street in Liverpool, this restaurant and bar is the perfect place for a romantic date.

The restaurant itself is based upstairs and the bar which comes alive later in the night is on the ground floor. As the building is a former church, the ceilings are incredibly tall and make it a breathtaking venue. The sense of space you have at Alma de Cuba is ideal for an intimate dining experience as you almost forget your surroundings and focus your attention on your delicious moment together.

Throughout May, you can also enjoy Mojito Mondays, were you will be treated to a complimentary Mojito with every main course, Wine and Dine Tuesdays, when guests can dine at Alma de Cuba for £19.95 per person, which includes a bottle of house wine and 2 courses. Plus on Wednesdays throughout May, you can even get a massive 35% off the A La Carte menu!

We’ve always loved going to Alma de Cuba in Liverpool for cocktails but we’ve never had the pleasure to dine upstairs, until now. Despite the bar being busy downstairs, the restaurant is like another world . After being seated and ordering a bottle of Prosecco, we took a look at the menu and decided on the Burnt Tomato & Goats Cheese Bruschetta, from the A La Carte menu which came with a helping of creamy whipped goats cheese and a delicious sherry salsa.

My partner choose the Lamb Carpaccio which came with seared lamb, minted salsa and dressed with cucumber and yogurt. As you can see, you certainly get a good portion despite it only being a starter!

For our main course, we had to order a tender steak fillet each, which was truly cooked to perfection. Not many restaurants get it just right when it comes to steak, but Alma de Cuba have really mastered this and we will be returning soon!

You can’t exactly order steak without a couple of side dishes now can you? So we picked fries and a side salad and fresh slaw. One thing in particular that we loved about this Liverpool restaurant, is that you really feel as though you have had a satisfying and comforting meal. Nothing too over the top, just simple concepts cooked beautifully and fantastic portion sizes.

After finishing off our main course, we thought it rude not to try dessert too. We both choose the Kalúa Mocha Macaroon. This, to our delight, was a giant sized macaroon served with mocha ice cream.

We had such a relaxed and delicious date night at Alma de Cuba and would really recommend you take full advantage of their exclusive May offers by booking a table for two now!

We want to say a massive thank you to the team at Alma de Cuba for inviting the Unlock Liverpool team down for dinner. We loved each and every mouthful and we will be telling our family and friends all about it!
