The Albert Dock is full of restaurants, bars and cafes where you can grab a bite to eat and take in the beauty of some of Liverpool’s most iconic architecture, but there is one restaurant that really stands out for Unlock Liverpool. Revolucion de Cuba in Liverpool is a vibrant mix of colour, tapas and cocktails and truly captures the spirit of Havana.
Tucked away from the main section of The Albert Dock, this popular Liverpool restaurant and bar has an almost exclusive outside seating area, where you can enjoy a cocktail or two as the sun sets over the River Mersey. Thanks to it’s quieter location, the restaurant isn’t rowdy or noisy but has its own unique charm, energy and of course Cuban vibes.
Set over two levels, the restaurant offers the perfect dockside dining experience with live music, fresh tapas and plenty of Cuban inspired cocktails. Upstairs is an exclusive rum bar which you must check out! The restaurant can also be hired out for special occasions and birthday parties, providing your own private area, welcome drinks and party vibes.
As a Liverpool date night destination, we ordered tapas to start and a couple of cocktails. One thing Revolucion de Cuba has got spot on, is their lavender mocktail. If you love the taste of Palma Violet sweets, you’ve got to try this non-alcoholic drink! It was so good we ordered it twice. Plus, if you’re driving, you can still enjoy something delicious and almost forget that it’s not alcoholic.
To start we couldn’t resist the Beef Fillet Skewer, tender beef glazed with chilli jam and served on a bed of peppers and onions. Unfortunately this particular dish looked so fine that we finished it off without even taking a picture! So, that truly speaks for itself! We also ordered a side of Spanish olives and padron peppers.
I ordered the Halloumi wrap which came with black beans, peppers, goat’s cheese and honey as well as a side of fries. You may think you’re opting for a healthier alternative but this dish certainly doesn’t compromise on flavour. The goat’s cheese melts in the mouth and the black beans and peppers really pack a punch.
My partner ordered the Quesadilla Burger with mozzarella, hot chilli cheese, spinach, spiced sugar and serrano ham in a beautifully presented quesadilla, topped with pico de gallo and served with fries and rum mayo! YUM!!
For a delicious mix of Cuban spirit and fierce food book a table at Revolucion de Cuba in Liverpool now and make sure to tell them that Unlock Liverpool sent you! We will be back very soon!
